The Board of Crime Stoppers International and delegates at the Opening Ceremony of the 35th Annual CSI Conference
The 35th Annual CSI Conference attracted over 600 delegates from Africa and several other countries. They were exposed to three days of presentations from world-class speakers that addressed crimes ranging from human trafficking to the rise of social media and technology in fighting crime and presenters included a US Secret Service agent who provided details as to how cyber crime has evolved over the years, and a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer gave an insight into Mexican Drug cartels.
The words of South African National Police Commissioner, General Riah Phiyega could not have summed it up better: “What has clearly come out of this conference is that there are crime problems, peace and stability challenges, across the globe. Each participating country should examine its unique issues and, as a collective, we should acknowledge our shared problems. We must then, together, have a collaborative plan which sets us on a path to solving the problems and addressing the challenges.”
