I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to everyone marking Crime Stoppers Month.
Crime Stoppers – a global organization with more than 1700 programs around the world – brings together citizens, local media and police in an effort to solve and prevent crime. Since its inception in 1976, Crime Stoppers International has helped to solve more than 1.5 million cases worldwide. In Canada, Crime Stoppers programs have, to date, been involved in clearing more than 270,000 cases and helping to recover more than $500 million worth of stolen property.
January marks Crime Stoppers month and offers chapters across Canada the opportunity to increase public awareness of the program. I would like to comment the many staff and volunteers associated with Crime Stoppers for their efforts to fight crime. Your commitment is making a difference in the safety and well-being of others and in improving the quality of life of our communities.
The Rt. Hon. Justin P.J. Trudeau, P.C., M.P.
Prime Minister of Canada
