Trinidad and Tobago was host to the 37th Annual Crime Stoppers International (CSI) Conference, which took place from October 2 to October 5, 2016 at the Trinidad Hilton and Conference Centre, Port of Spain.
The seven (7) CSI regions were represented at this year’s conference, with delegates arriving from twenty-two (22) countries from the regions of the Caribbean/Bermuda & Latin America, the United States of America, Canada, Europe, Australia, South & West Pacific and Africa.
The conference was centred around the theme “Anonymous Reporting in the Digital Age and delegates obtained a comprehensive understanding of emerging trends in cybercrime, illicit trade, human trafficking and the crucial role that anonymous reporting can play in assisting law enforcement at the local, regional and international levels.
They also had the opportunity to learn from best practices, network, and forge relationships with other Crime Stoppers programs, law enforcement agencies and other civil society organizations. Workshops included “Washington Most Wanted television series presented by Myrle Carner, of Crime Stoppers Puget Sound, Seattle –on the power of television in solving crimes and Darren Keppie, LinkedIn Executive and senior official of Crime Stoppers South Wales, Australia presented on progressive ways social media can be used to enhance community safety and build confidence in the fight against crime.
Delegates to the 37th CSI conference all expressed satisfaction in the conference and everyone looks forward to the 38th CSI conference to be held in 2017.
